When you go to Amsterdam by train, it is nice to stay overnight at the central station.
This is a great location, especially if you are going to Amsterdam for the first time. From the station you can take any bus or tram. In addition, you can walk to Dam Square, De Wallen and other sights within a few minutes.

The Jordaan is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Amsterdam. It really is a great neighborhood to stay in if you want to discover the ‘real’ Amsterdam. This is a real working-class district with unique markets, bars and people.
You can enjoy shopping here, stroll along the canals and also visit nice cafes and bars. Unfortunately, it is not a cheap neighborhood to spend the night! But, one of the best neighborhoods in the capital.

If you really want to stay SUPER cheap and don’t mind sharing a room, this hostel in the Jordaan is a good tip.
Here you have a bed in a dormitory for €24 including breakfast. Bizarrely cheap!
This hostel is perfectly located, in the Jordaan and close to nice bars and restaurants. At the hostel, all rooms have a shared bathroom with a shower.
