A weekend in Amsterdam is always a good idea. There is so much to do. If you go to Amsterdam for the first time, you will probably visit the famous Rijksmuseum, Red Light District, Dam Square and the canals.
But even if you have been to Amsterdam several times, you will always discover something new during your visit. Amsterdam is unfortunately not a cheap city to spend the night. You can easily pay €200 for an overnight stay, especially if you want to stay in the center.

Staying overnight at Amsterdam station: cheap and central
When you go to Amsterdam by train, it is nice to stay overnight at the central station.
This is a great location, especially if you are going to Amsterdam for the first time. From the station you can take any bus or tram. In addition, you can walk to Dam Square, De Wallen and other sights within a few minutes.

If you really want to stay SUPER cheap and don’t mind sharing a room, this hostel in the Jordaan is a good tip.
Here you have a bed in a dormitory for €24 including breakfast. Bizarrely cheap!
This hostel is perfectly located, in the Jordaan and close to nice bars and restaurants. At the hostel, all rooms have a shared bathroom with a shower.
It is clean, the beds are fine and the staff is very helpful. Other guests have rated this hostel with an 8.3. either; an excellent choice.
